arepa de choclo typical colombian food

You’ve probably seen it going around the internet. The effects of what good and bad foods have on your system one hour after consuming them.

So I decided to write this article to poke a bit of fun in light of all these “What happens to your body one hour after eating x” articles floating around the internet. Enjoy!

Have you ever wondered what happens to your body after you eat a dangerously delicious Colombian arepa (de choclo)?

A new study from a Top Ivy League has revealed the reaction you go through the hour after consuming an arepa, from the first whiff, right through the 60 minutes after having taken the first bite.

Bogotastic has gathered all the information and compiled it into an infographic to show just how dangerous eating an arepa can be.

What happens one hour after eating an arepa

First 10 minutes

You got a whiff of the delicious crispy dough on the grill and sped towards the closest place to get in on the action. As they warm up your arepa you grow impatient as the smell invades your nose and tell them to hurry the F** up!

20 minutes

By now you are devouring the damn thing. All the different notes are hitting your tongue and you have totally forgotten the world around you. You start to appreciate the simple things in life.

40 minutes

You got lost in the moment. And probably ate it so fast your body hasn’t even assimilated it yet. Now you’re sad because it’s over and you want another one.

60 minutes

Your body is refueled and you are running high on energy! What’s for dessert?

After 60 minutes

You’re starting to digest and make space. Maybe it’s time for another Colombian arepa? What time’s dinner again?

Miss eating an arepa? Leave me a comment telling me what’s your favorite topping 😉
